Christmas Devotional Day 7

Wednesday-December 7

Yesterday we began addressing the question "Why did He come?" We found out that Jesus came to be our savior! Since all humanity is a descendant of  Adam, who was disobedient to the Word of God we took on his original sin. We could not save ourselves but need the help of someone who did not have Adam as his father. Thus they did not have the original sin and could qualify to fill the position of savior! When Gabriel addresses Mary when she asks the question "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" he states:

"The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also the Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God" (Luke 1:35).

Jesus is not the son of Adam but the Son of God! He does not descend from Adam but from God! Since His father is without sin, thus Jesus is without sin!

The presence or absence of sin is what determines the eternal destination of all human beings. The lack of sin allows them to have eternal life with God in His sinless heavenly home while the presence of sin disbars the individual from heaven causing them to reside in an environment of sin, that is hell. Hell was created for the Satan, and his angels yet the neighborhood of hell has grown to also include disobedient sinful humans. This is a horrible region where the powers of evil and terror hold high court with the dreadful assembly.

Sin in a human was the qualification that Satan needed to become the controller of the destiny of humanity. If sin was found connected to an individual at the time of their death, then Satan could take control of the person and their body. Though Jesus had no personal sin yet His body was clothed in sin as He took upon Himself the sins of others (John 1:29; Isaiah 53:6; 1 John 2:2). The disguise of others sins caused Satan to take the bait and take the body of Jesus at death. In the house of sin, Truth enters. When the disguise of sin is lifted off, and sinless Jesus rises up, Satan could not keep Him under his control. Now Jesus is able to take the keys to death and hell (Revelation 1:18) which in turn gives Him the authority over the very tools of the bondage of Satan that he has over humanity (Hebrews 2:14-15). With the keys in His hand, Jesus becomes the first fruit of the resurrection plundering the house of Satan of his mighty weapons and his victims.

This is the fulfillment of the declaration of Jesus as He addresses his enemies declaration that Jesus drives out Satan because He is Beelzebub, the prince of demons (Mark 3:27; Luke 11:15)! Jesus states that the way Satan is driven out is that He has done the following:

Luke 11:21-22(KJV 1900)

When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil.

The first door of the strong man's house being opened happens at the birth of Jesus. This is the entrance of the stronger man into the house of the strong man! Satan is the prince and power of the airs (Ephesians 2:2). He has control of his house the earth. He controls the inhabits of the earth by demons, disease, depression and doubt. The miracles of Jesus of healing and exorcism during His time on the earth is the plundering by Jesus of Satan's house! Jesus is the stronger one!

Jesus proceeds further into Satan's house when He enters Satan's throne room of hell through the door of death. By using Satan's great tool of deception, Jesus is able to journey deeper into the house.  When our sins are placed upon Jesus at Calvary, this action binds Satan to the false belief that he has control over the body of Jesus. Yet the stronger man is walking deeper into the house. His sinless life withstands being bound by Satan and in turn binds Satan! He plunders the house of those bound by death and set them free! Satan might be called a "prince" (Ephesians 2:2), a position of strength and power, yet the prince is always subservient to the stronger King (1 Timothy 6:15)!

Why did He come? He came to defeat the enemy on every level that the enemy has controlled territory. Whether the enemy binds you with doubt, disease and/or depression, the Lords coming is to give you victory in this present life! You can be loosened because the stronger one is here to live in your mind and body to give you hope and joy! Not only can you have hope for today but you can have hope for the future!

Your Response:
Take time to slowly read the following scriptures. Meditate on them. Remember Jesus is the Stronger One!

Psalms 27:13 (NIV)

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (KJV)

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
